Billy Wayne Marbutt, 90, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at his home.

He was born May 9 1935, in Phil Campbell, AL, the son of Presley and Netta (Rich) Marbutt. Billy married Betty Nepean on May 30, 1954, in Iuka, Mississippi. They were lovingly united in life and heart for 60 years until Betty’s passing in 2014.

Billy moved to DeKalb from Alabama as a young man for work and met his love, Betty, together building a good life through honest work, love, family and friends.

He was employed at Wurlitzer Piano for many years, leaving to establish his own auto body repair shop in 1969. He took pride in Marbutt’s Body Shop quality and service for over 30 years until his retirement. Always a rock of support, love and care to his children and known as beloved “Grampa Dear” to his grandchildren, he will be cherished in their hearts forever.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Hill; his son, Donald Marbutt both of DeKalb; granddaughters Jennifer Jackson, Madison, WI, and Lindsay Hill-Batorski (Chad Batorski) Lodi, WI; great granddaughters Aliyah Hill, Janiya Jackson, and Raelin Batorski; great-great grandchildren Gionna, Ayden and Anariya Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

He preceded in death by in death by his wife Betty; his parents; sister Kathryn Gejuan Rajkowski; and his brother James Marbutt.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. A private family graveside service will follow at Gardner Cemetery in Maple Park.
