Benito (Benny) Alamia Jr, 65 of DeKalb, IL died Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at home surrounded by his family.
Born August 18, 1958, in Donna, Texas. The son of Benito Sr. and Francisca (Balderas) Alamia. A graduate of DeKalb High School class of 1977, Benny was a loving son, brother, and uncle.
Benny retired from Johnson Controls in Sycamore IL. He lived a vibrant life filled with joy, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures.
He spent his life spreading joy and creating lasting memories. He ran the Chicago Marathon in 1981.
He had a passion for cooking. His love for cooking brought people together, and the delicious meals he crafted were a testament to his passion for creating warmth and connection through food. Benny was a sports enthusiast who found immense joy in cheering for his favorite teams. Those who had the privilege of knowing Benny will forever remember his infectious sense of humor. Quick-witted and always ready with a joke, he had a remarkable ability to lighten any room and bring smiles to the faces of those around him.
Benny is survived by siblings, Victoria (Victor) Cano, Noemi (Ricardo) Nieto, Gloria (Moises Sr.) Pizano, Jose Alamia, Armando (Nancy) Alamia, Eloy Alamia, Oscar Alamia and Amelia Alamia; nieces and nephews; Norma, Nora, Rachel, Frances, Olga, Veronica, Ninfa, Kdee, Dylan, John, Moises Jr., Ryan, Jamie, Anthony, Justin, David and September and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Benito & Francisca; brothers and sister, Bobby, Alfonso, David, Noel and Eglentina; nephew and niece, Ricardo Nieto Jr., Kristin Alamia, and great nephew and niece Kadin Shepperson and Elle Gould; grandparents; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Alamia Family. May Benny rest in eternal peace, his memory living on in the hearts of all who were touched by his warmth and humor.
