Anna Rae (Turner) Keutzer, age 95, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, at Liberty Village in Rochelle, Illinois.
Born on November 22, 1929, in Beulaville, North Carolina, Anna was the daughter of Lewis and Mollie (Hatcher) Turner. On April 4, 1953, she married the love of her life, Leon Keutzer. Together, they raised four children in DeKalb, Illinois, where Anna dedicated herself to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
Anna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, infectious sense of humor, and her legendary fried chicken. She was a skilled gardener, talented crafter and seamstress, and a woman whose southern charm and warmth made everyone feel at home.
A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, Anna was devoted to her church family. She joyfully served as a Sunday School teacher and was actively involved in church circles, Wednesday prayer groups, and Sunday fellowship. In addition, she was a proud and active member of the Ladies Marine Corps Auxiliary in Sycamore for many years.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leon, her daughter Kelly McCoy, daughters-in-law Annette Keutzer and Marcia Petman-Keutzer, as well as her parents and siblings.
She is survived by her children: Keith Keutzer, Karen (Tony) Mann, and Kent (Dianne Watchulonis) Keutzer, son-in-law Mike (Debbie Underwood) McCoy; grandchildren: Michael Keutzer, Kari (Brandon) Harold, Molly Mann, Norah (Mark) Briden, Cole (Mary Kate) Keutzer, Ruby Keutzer, Alexa (Justin) DeLeon, Jaclyn (Jackson) Goodwin, and Danielle McCoy; and her great-grandchildren: Reagan, Tinley, Hunter, and Maddyn Harold, and Colin Briden.
Anna’s legacy is one of faith, family, and love. Her sweet southern drawl, gentle laughter, and kind heart will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church, 2501 N. Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather for fellowship and refreshments following the service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of DeKalb or the Ladies Marine Corps Auxiliary.
The Keutzer family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated caregivers at Liberty Village of Rochelle and the team at Serenity Hospice for their compassionate care in Anna’s final weeks.
