Anna A. Pinkowski, 91, died Friday, July 14, at her home in DeKalb.
She was born April 11, 1932, in Kokomo, IN, the second of five children born to Michael Anthony and Lena (DeVille) Pasquali. She and her siblings grew up in a loving home and a close-knit community in Kokomo, IN.
Anna was a loving and kind person who devoted her life to caring for others. She graduated from Kokomo high school and went on to attain a nursing degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette, IN. She then went on to work as a nurse at Hines VA hospital. While there, Annette Pinkowski, (a fellow nurse and soon to be sister-in-law) introduced her to the love of her life, Leonard A. Pinkowski. She married Leonard on Oct 17, 1959, in Kokomo, IN. They were married for 34 years.
Anna was a devoted stay-at-home mother to her four children until she felt they were old enough for her to go back to work. She then worked as a nurse for the DeKalb County Nursing Home for 25 years until she retired. She greatly enjoyed both her residents and co-workers, and developed friendships that lasted until the end of her life.
Anna found great comfort and meaning in God. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church and member of St. Mary's Church in DeKalb for 57 years. Anna remained grateful for all her blessings until the end.
Anna was someone who enjoyed living a simple life, but she was generous to family and those in need. She believed in keeping busy and enjoyed tending her large flower garden, taking care of her house, and outdoor work. She also enjoyed being a member of a sewing club for many years.
Anna is survived by her four children Nancy (Jerry) Effler of DeKalb, IL, Amy Pinkowski (Douglas Perry) of Geneva, IL, John (Colleen) Pinkowski of Kirksville, MO, and Robert Pinkowski (Beverly McClain) of Centralia, MO; her grandchildren, Justina Effler (Nicholas Miguel), Zachary Effler (Tristan Draper), Olivia Pinkowski, Colvin Perry, and Lina Perry; her great-grandchildren Theodore, Cecily, and Lawence Effler-Miguel; and her siblings Ersula Browne of Tarreytown, NY, Louise
