AMELIA GOULD Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Amelia Gould (Alamia), who passed away peacefully at her home on July 17th, 2025 at the age of 59.

Born on September 18th, 1965 in Donna, Texas, Amelia was the beloved daughter of Benito and Francisca Alamia. She was a proud graduate of DeKalb High School, Class of 1984.

After 30 years of dedicated service, Amelia retired from Northern Illinois University. She took immense pride in her work and deeply valued the many friendships she formed throughout her career.

Amelia was the life of the party—always full of laughter, love, and energy. She had a smile that lit up a room and a laugh that was truly contagious. She enjoyed dancing, especially to 80’s music. Amelia knew every episode of Charmed and enjoyed scary movies with all the lights off and popcorn except on Sundays when she was loudly cheering on her favorite team- the Dallas Cowboys. Amelia’s cooking was legendary- especially her enchiladas and famous potato salad. She was a natural caregiver and willing to help anyone who needed it. She gave freely and without expectation, simply because that’s who she was.

She was a devoted mother to her sons Justin (Natasha) Gould and David Gould; a loving grandmother to Ayla, Jayce, Ily, Izaiah, Aliveah, Amelia, Kane, and Korbyn; along with her former stepchild Mallory Stout and her children Kyler, Rylan and Addaline who she remained close with. She is also survived by her siblings Victoria (Victor) Cano, Noemi (Ricardo) Nieto, Gloria (Moises Sr.) Pizano, Jose Alamia, Armando (Nancy) Alamia, Eloy Alamia, and her brother-in-law James Boyes. Amelia leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored her, including Norma, Nora, Rachel, Leticia, Frances, Olga, Veronica, Ninfa, Kdee, Dylan, John, Moises Jr., Ryan, Jamie, Anthony, and September, as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, Amelia leaves behind her lifelong best friend Kimberly Isaacs-Zonca, her significant other Doug Lindgren and Anna Avila whom she loved like a daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benito and Francisca Alamia; her granddaughter, Elly Gould; her siblings Bobby, Alfonso, David, Benito, Oscar, Noel, and Eglentina; her niece and nephew, Kristin Alamia and Ricardo Nieto Jr.; and her great-nephew Kadin Shepperson and others among her extended family.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd from 11am-3pm at The Moose Lodge located at 1231 E Lincoln Highway. DeKalb, IL 60115. All are welcome to come share stories, remember her beautiful spirit, and honor the joy she brought into the world.
