ALLAN R. HYDE Obituary

ALLAN R. HYDE Obituary

Allan R. Hyde, 78, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, while on vacation in Panama City, Florida. Though his passing was unexpected, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, love, and strong connections with family and friends.

Allan was born on June 18, 1947, in Urbana, Illinois, to Russell and Margaret (Kopp) Hyde. Later in life, he found love and companionship with Faye Harris, whom he married on November 24, 2012, in Bootjack, Michigan. Together, they shared years of love, laughter, and companionship.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War, something he carried with quiet pride throughout his life. Allan spent 32 years as a mail carrier in DeKalb, a job that allowed him to connect with so many people in the community he loved. He was also a long-time delivery driver for Pizza Villa and delivered parts for Bumper to Bumper. Even beyond that, he was never one to sit still—always working, always helping, and always staying busy.

Allan had a true passion for hot rods and car shows, where he found not just a hobby, but a community. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his car buddies, especially during Sunday morning gatherings at Rise N Shine Restaurant in Sycamore. Those mornings were more than just coffee—they were friendship, laughter, and tradition. He was also a proud member of the Road Angels and the Sycamore VFW.

Above all, Allan loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Faye; his children, Amy (Mike) Taylor, Allison (Aaron) Shriver, and Jeffrey (Melany) Hyde; and his stepchildren, Janet Harris, Tanya (Chad) Johnson, Larry (Tandy) Harris, and Marla (Brett) Carlson. He was a proud grandfather to Trevor (Katie), Abby, TJ, Megan, Josh, Stephany, Page, Jayden, Brett (Jackie), Kyle (Taylor), Mackenzie (Luke), Cannyn, Taya, Alivia, and Mason, and a great-grandfather to Adonis. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer (Maurice) Eide; his brother, Richard (Joan) Hyde; Special mention; Melanie (Tim) Rasmussen; Kristin (Bill) Reynolds; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed not only by his family, but also by his loyal companions, Sir Walter and King Arthur, who were always by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Lippert; and Sandra Hyde, the mother of his children.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with Rev. Dennis Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, with full military honors provided by DeKalb American Legion Post 66.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hyde family in care of Anderson Funeral Home.

Allan will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of cars, his dedication to his family, and the friendships he cherished. His presence will be deeply missed, but the stories, laughter, and memories he gave will live on in all who knew and loved him.
