Patricia M. Tuecke, 84, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center.
She was born November 12, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Lloyd and Ester (Schomer) Donahoo. She grew up on her parents farm near Millard, Nebraska, and attended Millard High School.
After graduating from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and prior to marriage, Patricia was a teacher in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1960 she was married to John Tuecke of Garnavillo, Iowa, whom she had met at Wartburg. They had two sons, Jeff and Steve. After the family moved to DeKalb in 1981, Pat worked part time in several capacities at NIU and also at the law firm of Boyle, Cordes, Witheft and Brown. She also worked with many charities. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church where she served as the librarian and did some accounting. Patricia loved music. She enjoyed playing piano and guitar and sang in the church choir for many years.
She is survived by her son Jeff (Becky) Tuecke of Mundelein; her daughter-in-law Karla Horsch of Lombard; her grandchildren Addison, Max, Eva and Alex; her sisters Gloria (Larry) Bartels of Elkhorn, Nebraska and Cheryl (Hal) Schultz of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; her son Steve and her parents.
The Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the First Lutheran Church, 324 North Third Street, DeKalb, with Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt officiating.
Visitation will be from 11am until the time of services at 12 noon at the church.
