DeKalb – Margie Hollifield, 79, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore.
Born April 14, 1933, in Bingham, Ill., the daughter of John R. and Verda E. (Erlenbach) Hicks, she married James B. Hollifield on June 24, 1950, in DeKalb.
Margie worked at DeKalb County Nursing Home and Pine Acres Nursing Home for many years as a Nursing Assistant.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Gloria) Hollifield of Benton, Kentucky, Ruth (Mark) Clucas and Terry (Earlene) Hollifield, both of Sycamore; nine grandchildren, Heather (Zach) Adams, Christine Elizabeth Hollifield, Kathleen, Stephanie, and Marcus Clucas, Todd (Chrissy) and T. J. (Lisa Hayes) McLaughlin, Shannon (John) McGrath, Courtney (Ryan Rood) Hollifield; nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, John Michael, Kalene, Seth James, Alyssa, Miles, Aleister and Jillian; brother, Larry (Beverly) Hicks of Tennessee; sister, Bernadine Coulter of Southern Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. “Shorty” Hollifield in 2003; and her sister, Jean Leuke.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn officiating. Cremation will follow services with burial of cremated remains at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, at Anderson Funeral Home.
